-The UCP won the provincial election yesterday with a majority government, although all the results are still considered unofficial until June 8th.
Meanwhile the NDP will form the largest Opposition in Alberta’s history, as they gained at least 11 new seats.
Premier-elect Danielle Smith was in a good mood as she spoke to her supporters last night, while NDP leader Rachel Notley says she will be happy to lead the Opposition.

It appears that the NDP swept Edmonton and that the UCP hung onto their rural ridings and many in Calgary.
Meanwhile, the NDP’s Marie Renaud won in St. Albert, Brandon Lunty of the UCP won in Leduc-Beaumont, the UCP’s Shane Getson won in Lac Ste Anne-Parkland, the UCP’s Devin Dreeshen won in Innisfail-Sylvan Lake, the UCP’s Brian Jean won in Fort McMurray-Lac La Biche,
-The UCP’s Nate Horner won in Drumheller-Stettler, the UCP’s Andrew Boitchenko won in Drayton Valley-Devon, the UCP’s Jackie Lovely won in Camrose, the UCP’s Nate Glubish won in Strathcona-Sherwood Park, the UCP’s Garth Rowswell won in Vermillion-Lloydminster-Wainwright.
-The UCP’s Martin Long won in West-Yellowhead, the UCP’s Jackie Armstrong-Homeniuk won in Fort Saskatchewan-Vegreville, the UCP’s Rick Wilson won in Maskwacis-Wetaskiwin, the UCP’s Adriana LaGrange won in Red Deer North, the UCP’s Jason Nixon won in Rimbey-Rocky Mountain House-Sundre.
