Dean Thorpe was born and raised in Melville Saskatchewan. He began his broadcasting career in 1986 at CJVR radio in Melfort Saskatchewan. Over the next few years, he made stops in Yorkton, Estevan, and Saskatoon, before moving west with his family in 1995.
Although he’s covered general news for most of his career, in 2006, Dean took on the challenge of hosting CFCW’s Alberta Ag Show…a decision, he says, was the best one he’s ever made… short of marrying his wife Carolyn.
Dean and Carolyn celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary in 2013. They have two kids, Jordan and Danielle.
When he’s away from the microphone, Dean enjoys traveling, playing and watching baseball, playing drums, and spending time with his family.
