UPDATE:     EDMONTON POLICE SAY THE SUSPECT HAS BEEN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY

-Edmonton police issued a warning this afternoon, requesting that all residents, pedestrians and motorists avoid Hermitage Road and Henry Avenue in the Homesteader neighbourhood, or to stay inside, as there was a male suspect attacking strangers with an edged weapon.
Police say one person is dead and two seriously injured, and they believe the assaults were random.
He had been wearing a dark hoodie and grey shirt with beige pants, and witnesses told police he appeared to be “disheveled and untidy”.
Police are still searching for the suspect.
