-New Humble Community School in Leduc County is planning to return this fall as a public charter school, with a big focus on agriculture. Kristen Kuhn with the School Association says they still need the final go ahead, but Alberta Education has told them to proceed with planning to open in September of this year:
…”So we’re going to be using agriculture stewardship and innovation to teach those everyday classroom things that everybody learns.”
Kuhn says so far they have plans for an outdoor classroom, a greenhouse, chicken coop and maybe even a collection of beehives. Close to 1-hundred students are signed up at this point, and she says they’re going to start hiring teachers and support staff soon.

-The Battle River School Division says it won’t be trying out the proposed elementary curriculum this fall. They are going to focus on literacy and numeracy skills, along with meeting student needs. But they say any teachers who want to review the draft and provide feedback to Alberta Education, will be supported.
